well it depends on your definition of cold, but usually the coldest it gets year-round is in the mid-50s. (thats in LA) in other areas, it can get below freezing, like in the mountains and up north. california has an extremely diverse climate zone, so it would really help if u specified what region of california you'd like to know about.

Up north it gets colder than other parts.
It gets into the 50s in some places & the residents call that cold.

Depends on where you are. In mountainous regions, you'll see plenty of snow. On the beach, It'll be rare to be below 50F.
