Jeff Buckley was a tremendous talent, sadly missed.
Rage Against the Machine were just awesome.
The Hollies hadn't occurred to me, but you might have a point there...
I'm liking what I'm hearing folks.

Jack Lee. He's an awesome songwriter and the songs have been covered by the likes of Blondie (Hanging on the telephone), Paul Young (Come Back and Stay/Women) and many more. Yet his albums are really tricky to find...and there haven't been multiple 'best of' albums to dig out from the bargain bin either.

I'll cheat and give you three...
The Jayhawks - simply not appreciated enough, or widely enough.
The Bodeans - too quickly written off by some because one of their songs, "Closer to Free", was used as the theme song on "Party of Five", I think it was. But they were already OWNING Wisconsin and the western Great Lakes region before anyone East or West had ever heard of them.
Jeff Buckley - because his talent was so brilliant and his career cut so damn short... sort of a blessing, in a way, because he didn't live long enough for anyone to accuse him of "changing" or "selling out."
[ADDED] I have to add Digable Planets - they never got the respect due them.

Rage Against the Machine. People always wanted to dwell on their political message, and didn't appreciate the music. Tom Morello (lead guitarist for RATM) is a freakin' genius. He could make his guitar sound amazing! Now Morello is the lead guitarist for Audioslave.

Bob Mould of Husker Du, Sugar, etc is a fekkin genius. Seen him live just with an acoustic 12-string - like a big, fat Marlborough-clogged angel.
