So a few games I play use my video card obviously and somehow it is effecting the viewing of movies when alt-tabbed. Previously, everything worked well and I could do that as much as I wanted, but after I formated it doesnt work. It is just a blank screen and sound. My computer is specced very good and has a great video card so it isnt a hardware issue. I have my video cards drivers installed and the newest version of directx. Also, when I rock click on a movie file, the monitor goes black for a milisecond and comes back.

Usually this doesn't work too well, I'm surprised it worked before. Games usually hog the audio &video resources, but anyway...

First, check the settings on you video card- check if it's running in high-color,true-color etc. Try a different setting and probably a lower resolution. For example, you may be able to tab freely at 1024x768 but not 1280x1024.

Also, try a different version of the video card drivers. If you installed them from a CD, check the ATI or NVidia website for the latest release instead. If you're running the latest/downloaded drivers, uninstall those and try the ones which came on the CD- the newer versions are usually better, but not always- I've seen dramatic slowdowns with later releases of Detonator drivers vs the versions a couple of years back.

Well, a child's brain is still developing and an adult's brain is mostly developed and doesn't have as much developing to do as a child's. Obesity is another problem too, although I daresay that the fact that my husband watched 12 hours of TV on his days off contributes to his weight problem too. I do think that adult brains can still be stimulated and developed and that too much screen time is also damaging to them, but I've never encountered a study that says as much. Doesn't matter if I did because my husband thinks all modern-day studies on any subject are a bunch of bunk anyway. I was just talking to my sister-in-law about what DO men do all day when they're off work? I've always wondered what most men do when they're not working because most of the men in my life have watched a lot of TV or played video games. I would be bored stiff if that's how I spent my free time.

How kids can watch a movie and play a game at the same time is beyond me. Sounds like you have too much stuff running at the same time.
