This is my first pregnancy and I was wondering, should I be able to feel where the head and other parts are this far along? My belly isn't very big either, and it seems like I should be able to feel EVERY part of him. People say I look like I'm only 5months or so, but I'm almost 31wks!!! It's worrying me a little. Should I be able to feel the weight of an almost 3pnd baby in there too, or does the fluid kinda distribute the weight? I'm not overweight, and it seems like he's right there under my skin, so does that mean that he's too small right now, and that my uterus isn't growing right? Doctor said at my last appt. everything was measuring fine, but still ordered another ultrasound to ease my mind. It's hard not to worry!

The fluid tends to distribute the weight of the baby. It is possible to feel where the head and feet are if the baby is positioned in the appropriate place or when it chooses to move around. However the best way to tell the position is via ultrasound.
Don't worry, if your doctor says the baby is measuring fine, then it's okay. I'm the same way - I'm 38 weeks but I don't look like it!

You are just fine. You don't want to gain over 35lbs- 25-35lbs is what they really want you to gain. Around that time of my pregnancy, I could feel just about everything too- I could feel where his head was (which it was down around that time), and I could feel a foot or a hand pushing on my sides. My son had big feet, and you could see them pushing on my stomach more towards the end of my pregnancy. It was weird when he pushed pretty hard, and sometimes actually hurt a little. Especially if he'd hit my hip bones. If you can't tell what part is what, you will know soon. And the doctors will also let you know if the baby's head is down or up- you could even ask at your appt.

As you get further along, you will be able to feel more of the weight of your baby- mine cut the circulation off my legs when I'd sit down lol. He ended up weighing 9lbs 10oz, and the doctors had no idea. You will gain about 1 lb a week pretty soon- and that's because the baby puts on more weight. I had a bigger baby, and I think not as much fluid- when my water broke, it was just a trickle, I couldn't tell if it was that at first. Don't worry- everything seems to be going great for you. Being your first baby, as mine was too, you don't know anything until it happens... which can make your worry. but try not to worry too much! You will be so happy, and be so blessed once this little baby comes :) Goodluck and congrats!

You are fine i'm sure. While I was pregnant my stomach was always really tight. Even at 31 weeks. You wont be able to feel his parts until about 5 months. Then you will be able to see his head or butt poking out most of the time. Gently massage and see if you can feel him. Don't worry. If the Doctor says you are measuring right, that means your uterus is growing properly. Another ultrasound will ease your mind though. When you have the ultrasound, ask as many questions as you want to. They should tell you how much the baby weighs and everything. If they don't, ask. Also ask if that weight is normal for 31 weeks. I'm sure y'all will both be fine. Good Luck.

Nope, what you are describing is more of a 34 to 36 week pregnancy.

Right now, you should feel the baby moving, but the baby may still be high in the uterus. He or she still has lots of room to grow in there. Basically, the weight babies put on before birth happens in the last month of pregnancy at the rate of hald a pound a week between weeks 34 and 38.

Once that happens, they start running out of room and you can trace their entire bodies.

Sounds like you've been reading too much into what can happen during pregnancy and not being encouraged that every pregnancy is different for every woman every time she does it!

The doctors will tell you if the baby is undersized or you haven't gained enough weight. You can't ever identify EVERY part of your little guy but as time goes along, you will feel a foot. (Sometimes in the middle of your diaphram :-) The weight of the baby is not any different that just the weight of your belly right now. Don't worry and worrying is normal right now! Almost all moms do and some have dreams about the welfare of their baby. Good luck.

Don't worry, I couldn't ever tell where the head and feet were with my babies unless they were kicking me. And about being very big, be glad your not that big, the baby is probably small and will be easier during delivery, as long as it's not premature, don't worry. Every thing will be fine. If your already a small person that could by why your not that big.

I agree with the last answer, if the doctor says it is ok then it is. Also, just be happy you are not retaining too much water! You will probably start to gain quick now, this is the time when the baby starts to fatten up!

If the doctor said everything is ok then it is. Focus on something else like preparing for your baby
