Making 'friends' is not the objective of any decent American policy. Nor should it be. True, it's good to have friends in the world, but at what cost? As you read, and get older, you will see the logic of my statement. I assumed that you are young, because one would think that, if you were mature, you wouldn't make statements like that.

It would be far worse under Harold Ford. Please dont vote for this moron, he is more ignorant than Bush is At least Bush knows that Australia is their ally and has been for more then 50 years and has no interest in being a threat, let alone a nuclear threat to you. In case you dont know what Im talking about it is his speach that claimed Australia is a nuclear threat. "Here we are in a world today where more countries have access to nuclear weapons than ever before," Mr Ford said, adding that when he left college in 1992 he thought the nuclear age had come to an end "and America would find ways to eliminate the number of chances that a rogue group or a rogue nation would get their hands on nuclear material". "Today nine countries have it - more than ever before - and 40 are seeking it, including Argentina, Australia and South Africa," he said. http://www.news.com.au/story/0,23599,20659192-401,00.html

I think our definition of "friends" might differ. The term I would prefer to use is allies, whom don't necessarily have to be our friends. An ally would support you because you have like concerns, whether they are economic, security, political, etc.. We are not playing in a school yard here, the stakes are much to high and in one way or another we are all interconnected.
We feed much of the word, we are there in times of need and or crisis, I am not sure these countries would call us "friend" but not many of them (if any) turn down our support.

It is clear that we have made more enemies. Legitimate studies estimate over 500,000 Iraqis dead as a result of the invasion. How many people lost a brother, a father, a mother, or the worst - a child - by stray bullets? How many have had their homes destroyed by stray bombs?
The easiest way to make a "terrorist" or an insurgent is to kill someone he loves.
Think about that number - 500,000! That's like 9/11 multiplied over 160 times.
It was poorly planned. And now we're hated for our gross negligence and indifference to the deaths of non-Americans.

I travel a great deal, and I live outside the US, and I assure you, unfortunately the enemies he's created for our wonderful country far exceed the friends. Even sadder, I think, is that those who were once sympathetic to America's troubles, even to the point of responsive tears, and who were indeed its friends, have felt betrayed. It will take us a long time before we're no longer living in the world he (or should I say the puppermasters?) created.

Unfortunately, I think it is enemies.
His attitude of what's mine is mine and what's yours is also mine, has been proved by attacking Iraq and threatening Iran and South Korea.
I don't think Bush has been voted as the 'guardian of the world' - so why does he throw his weight around? he comes across as a petulant politician rather than a savvy one..........and because of that many Americans lives are threatened, ans so will the lives of our children be.

I believe that Bush has made more American enemies than friends because of his self serving agenda. I have no idea what he is trying to prove by wasting billions of American earned dollars and thousands of American lives. These atrocities has got to stop.
