They are rolling over in their graves, alright.

But over the assult on individual liberties being perpetrated by today's so-called conservatives. To date, this has included efforts to nullify all or parts of the First, Fourth, Fith, Fourteenth, and Fifteenth Ammendments as well as several articles of the Constitution.

Perhaps, to understand the issues, you should do some reading. I suggest :

The constitution
The federalist papers
Common Sense (T. Paine)
On Civil Disobedience (Thoreau)
And the history of the following events (there are many good works available): The Palmer Raids, The Sedition Acts, the McCarthy era, the Kent State protests, themarch on Selma, the Free Speech Movement.
And a good book (there are many) from a political science perspective on the topic of civil rights and civil liberties.

Yes I think they are rolling over in their graves that some of us liberals have figured out the great scam of america.
The USA has some of the greatest ideals to never be truly realized. If our country was what it pretends to be and what it sold the world on it truly would be for all time the greatest nation on earth and could sustain itself forever. Instead if is a country that is and has always been founded and run by men who want more money power and control than they already have in the 1800s those men made corporations and they are still ultimately in control of this country to this day to the point of dictating foreign policy to the sham goverment we have that they put there by donating money to the campaigns of the politicians who would vote in their interests. Freedom and democracy is just the illusion with which the people of this country are kept under control.

No. With today's conservatives, yes. By modern standards, our Forefathers, for the most part, would have been considered radical left wingers. They DID launch a revolution to declare independence from a king - creating a whole new system of government. Conservatives don't do things like that - they like the status quo. Freedom of speech, habeus corpus, freedom of religion, democracy - those are classical liberal ideologies. Even the most conservative founding father, like Washington or Adams, would be to the left of just about anyone in modern American politics.

I don't think its just liberals who give them crib spins.

The idea of professional politicians was counter to their ideas of a citizen government.

The idea of the Separation of Church and State was against their ideals, they believed in free worship but were against a state religion or discrimination against any religion.

Welfare and entitlements was against their beliefs, as a matter of fact, little of what the founding fathers believed in is important to today's politicians, including the constitution because politics has become a business.

Politicians represent the party, not the people. Corporations, special interests and lobbyists have purchased the parties and thus they have purchased the politicians.

The Constitution was established giving the government limited powers, now every level of government adds to its list of rules restricting our rights.

The government was established to provide a minimal level of control over individual rights, now we are so restricted the legislatures and courts have taken away our civil liberties and instead grant us rights, instead of those rights being ours inherently.

The founding fathers believed in LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL (o.k. that's not totally true, the original constitution only provided liberty and justice for white, propertied males- gay or not)!

They would be rolling in their graves that the church, the institution from which this nation tried to escape to found a land of liberty, would be once again dictating who can be free and who can't.

People's lack of historical memory is despicable! No wonder mistakes repeat themselves throughout history.

Rather than take responsibility for our common future, Bush has shifted costs to states and communities, who then pass them on to you. Across the country, people are seeing their property taxes skyrocket. State college tuition at 4-year schools has increased this year by an average of $579 nationwide. Half a million children have been deprived of health coverage. States and local government have cut vital services, and we're all having to pay more for less. That's the Bush Tax.

Bush is largely to blame for the fiscal crisis that has forced states and communities to raise taxes and slash services. According to the non-partisan Center on Budget and Policy Priorities (CBPP), "A conservative estimate suggests that federal policies are costing states and localities about $185 billion over the four-year course of the state fiscal crisis." Bush has shifted health costs to states and forced states to pay for unfunded mandates for homeland security, election reform, and No Child Left Behind. As a result, states and communities have had no choice but to raise taxes and cut services. That's the Bush Tax.

You can't be serious! The persons who decided to oppose a king and his army and navy and to establish a totally new form of government, and some of whom argued (Jefferson in particular) that there should be a revolution in government fairly often would have no problem with anything. They were the "liberals" of their day, idiot.
