Because they are lazy - annoying isn't it!!

I totally agree with you! What is wrong with people today that they do not know how to spell properly! It drives me mad that people are not even able to spell the most simplest words. The problem is that the spell checker is not infallible. It does not recognise all words. I always use the spell checker, but find I also have to go through my work; and I consistently find mistakes still left un-noticed by the spell checker. Alot of people are lazy too, especially when it comes to punctuation. That annoys me too. Apparently, it is ettiquette not to put punctuation into emails aarrgh!!! I'm afraid that we live in a world of text talk where people abreviate alot of words. They have either forgotten how to spell words or never really knew how to in the first place. The world is becoming too fast-paced, nobody has time to stop and evaluate anymore. We are a dying breed my friend. All the best :o)

yes, poor spelling is annoying when it is so easy to hit the "Check Spelling" button, but everyone is entitled to their style of interacting

however it is U.S. english on my account, not the Queen's (Freddie Mercury's English), so that really is annoying

personally, i don't always capitalise & add a full stop as this is only for laughs and doesn't really matter - right?

However, poor spelling/grammar can also lead to mistakes, as the questions have to deciphered first to be answered.

I guess that a questioner really wants to know something and needs answers, so they need to know that they are adding an extra barrier by incorrect spelling, as many answerer's may decide to give up before they start.

i often try to add a big word that i cannot spell, just so i learn how to spell it correctly - kind of "learn & grow as you go" philosophy (but i'm just a swat as you can tell)

p.s. of course, there are so many questions that it is easy to skip the banal and get to the ones that really matter, mispelt or not

p.p.s. what is the purpose of life anyway, if it isn't to have a good rant over nothing from time to time!

p.p.p.s. and now i have just wasted several minutes of my life!!!
.

I couldn't agree more and I hate those people that use neologisms and ridiculous abbreviations that take so long to unravel you just give up. Is it the general standard of education or what? I've got flipp all qualifications but I know how to spell and it amazes me the number of technical questions you get from people who claim to be at college or uni and can't even spell the thing correctly that they are talking about!

Could be a daft q. this, but how do you use a spell checker in this box I'm typing in now? I can use it in a WP or an OE e-mail, but here?

On weekdays I assume that a lot of people are trying to sneak in a quick question while their boss isn't looking, and don't have time to use the spellchecker - but at weekends...? Maybe they don't want their parents/partners/siblings etc to see!

It is absolutely annoying when people are so bone idle to be able to use something as simple as a spell-checker.
