It's going to sound weird because I've played a lot of scary games, but nothing made me jump more than playing Resident Evil 2 on the N64 by myself in the dark when I was 16. Yikes, man.

Oh bah. Games aren't scary. That's like saying a movie is scary or a book is scary. Things in games can be surprising, sure, but not scary.
QUITE surprising. Like in Doom III when I'm just casually strolling across a bridge and whistling to myself and smiling and HOLY CRAP A ZOMBIE JUST BUNGEE-JUMPED INTO MY FACE I HAVE TO FILL IT WITH LEAD DIE DIE DIE oh wait, it's already dead. Whoops. Bye-bye, ammunition. You were a good friend. And would have been quite useful, considering there are now three angry machine-gun-wielding zombies right behind me.

doom,i played it along time ago.i had the lights off,i went into this area i thought had no monsters in it,the all of a sudden i turned around & this thing was biting me,it sounded like a lion,it freaked me out for a few seconds,because i didnt expect it to be there.
