How do you turn an iPod off?

Its prolly a stupid question but I just got mine and I am confused!

Not a stupid question, in fact i just got mine too and had no idea how to use it. You press play and hold it down for a minimum of 3 seconds. Lock it with the hold button at the top to make sure it does not switch on again

Hold down play. It should turn off within a few seconds.
