If you consider the differences between the sexes you should quickly come to the conclusion that romance novels and porn are the same. For women emotions are the important part of sex. For men, the act itself is what's important. Romance novels do the same thing for a woman that porn does for a man: satisfaction and indulging in lustful desires. Therefore, they are the same thing.

Define romance novels and define porn to get your answer.
To be considered of the romance genre, a novel should adhere to the following criteria:
the story must focus on the relationship and romantic love between two people.
the story must have an emotionally satisfying and optimistic ending.
Define pornography
1 : the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement
2 : material (as books or a photograph) that depicts erotic behavior and is intended to cause sexual excitement
3 : the depiction of acts in a sensational manner so as to arouse a quick intense emotional reaction
I believe according to the definition of pornography, romance novels can be considered porn. #3

No, they aren't the same thing. Of course, I guess it all depends on one's definition of porn. Romance novels are like a dream you want to come true - or peeking through curtains (okay, that does sound like a peeping tom, doesn't it? Oh, well . . .). Porn is like being in the same room with your neighbors while they get busy. (That's more blatant than a peeping tom.) So, well, I guess it's just a matter of degree.

That would be why I call it 'Book Porn'. Of course it's not exactly the same; books aren't as graphic, the stories are more gentle and romantic, most of the time they revolve around a plot, etc. Guys don't care if porn has a story or plot behind it, and they don't watch it to see people 'making love' they want to see some hardcore sex. But in general, yes, they are both forms of erotic entertainment.

Of course not. They are totally different. The romance novels express feelings and porn only sex.

Yes, romance novels are just more elaborate. Sometimes people get off on the fantasy more than the eroticism.

No, but some are more discriptive...if you read one romance you read them all, imho. I am a sci fic/fantasy reader.
you could read novels by nora roberts or daniele steele. they are more like romance. My mom loves thoughs novels and she does not like many of the new writers

NO, a romance novel deals with matters of the heart
Porn deals with just plain sex.
They are two very different entities.
