I don't know about the fining over candy giving. However, costumes are, in my opinion, becoming more cute to relate to a wider customer base. This way, very young children, toddlers and infants can participate in a less scary way. This way, entire families can participate. Also, those who disagree with the "horror" of Halloween can now display another side and still dress up and enjoy festivities. Yes, it is taking from the original thought of Halloween.

I haven't heard that the government was fining people for handing out candy. Don't they have enough problems to deal with, without putting a damper on the kids trick or treating?
Halloween is a time for fun, the kids are back in school and the stress of homework and going by the rules, winter is just around the corner,so why not celebrate being young and carefree! A lot of children don't like scary. Most of the little ones prefer familiar characters, such as, clowns, cats, Star wars, power rangers,Bratz,Disney characters etc. Cute is also fun!

I think the ones who make it "cute" are people who find Halloween to be demonic and too scary. And my Husband would agree with you. For example, he thought it would be fun to drive through the cemetery last night when it got dark since it was so foggy and get out and look at headstones and go "ghost hunting" with the kids (they were scared out of their wits but that's the whole point and they loved it when we were all done). He too loves the whole scary part of Halloween. I think it's anyone's decision to participate and celebrate any Holiday the way they see fit for them. And being fined for giving out candy, never heard of that and it seems a little far fetched in my opinion!

Dressing up the boy as a princess will not make him gay, or a serial killer, or depressed as he gets older. He may be embarrassed by it but who doesn't have any embarrassment from their childhood? If this was the other way around and a girl wanted to dress up in as a prince nobody would say anything. Is dressing up as a princess his idea or yours? It sounds like it is yours. My advice would just ask him what he wants or take him down the costume isle and let him pick a "boy" costume.

Cuter? Lol if you knew some of the people n kids I know Cute on them is SCARY lol but I know what you mean That's like going to the movies in my area we used to have a cheap 1.50 show and they closed it down it was the one place you could take young small children in fact church and school programs used to book days and rooms for family viewing of a movie. Now because parents want to gaurd their kids from movies that they think are to scary or graphic. I took my cousins to see the EXORCISM of EMILY ROSE 10, 11, 14, 15 and 17 I would of taken the younger ones but NO they won't let us have younger children in the theaters ne more. But I took them to see the Chainsaw Massacare2 but they wouldnt allow them into the movies the 11 year old wanted to see the Grudge 2 with me. They weren't going to let him in to see it because "I 24 wasnt his LEGAL GARDIAN" what r we suppose to carry our kids birth certificates w/us now? Now this really ticked me off so I went and spoke to the manager and told her how ridiculous this was. She said it was all because a 16 year old went and seen the Exorcism of Emily Rose and was terrified and that kids parents had complained about it to the theater. Well because of one parent not letting their kids watch these kind of things in the past and it freaks them out we all get punished. But sorry to say the chainsaw 2 was not as scary as the grudge 2 taken from 5 kids we actaully got to go out of town and since it was playing the kids wanted to go see it they said they'd watch it over the grudge ne time

What I hate is how so called "Sexy" costumes for women are pushed so hard.

Every last one is made of a short skirt and a low cut top.

It's a big TRICK! with no chance of getting a treat.
