My gosh! Marble is a "delicate" stone when it comes to cleaning...
Even though it is heavy, it is porous.
If a very mild soap and water solution does not help, you may have to call in an expert, to clean it with an "acid-solution!"
I would not recommend that you go to your neighborhood "Home-Depot, or Lowe's" to buy "Muratic Acid and the stronger Sulfuric-Acid" and try to do it yourself. For one thing, it is Dangerous! Second is, an expert will be able to determine how bad the stain is, and how to "dilute" his acid so it does not ruin your marble figurine..
Try using a "micro-fiber" towel with mild soap and warm "distilled-water" or different sponges with your soap solution. I would not use any cleanser like "Ajax or Comet."
Good Luck!!!

I would advise you not to use any cleaners that are acidic/containing lemon juice or vinegar as it can be to harsh on marble and develop a really matt finish. Best thing would be to use soap flakes hot water and a soft cloth and of course some good old elbow grease!!!

You can buy simple green marble cleaner at Home Depot. Use that with a microfiber cloth. If it is valuable or an antique don't do anything with it yourself take it to a professional art restorer.

Be very careful, marble is easily damaged by many cleansers!
I would use warm water and a mild soap, repeat if need.
