My husband and I are having a debate. He says Utilikilts are obscene. I think they are sort of cool. I would like your opinion. If you don't know what they are you can go to the website, www.utilikilts.com. I never heard of them before last week! My son told us that guys wear them in Seattle, where he lives.

I actually saw a guy wearing a kilt the other day. He was obviously gay and not afraid of letting everybody know, but the kilt was kinda strange nonetheless. I don't think I could wear one unless at a family gathering in Stewart reds.

Criticisms of clothing articles such as UKs is more indicative of the critics state of mental capacity than it is of those who wear UKs.
There are some who can carry the look, some who think they can carry the look, and there are some who should not be allowed amidst the masses of humanity.

Like any fashion, the sensible person will strike a happy medium on their attire both to promote a style for those interested, and to negate the more extreme displays of that attire.

I am always curious about the detractors of the UK. Are they afraid of nonconformity? Do they feel their manhood or the manhood of all men are threatened by men in UKs?
Is it really important what they think about UKs, especially since they aren't wearing them?

When you own a UK and wear it, then you can lay your criticism down upon it, good or bad, until then detractors of the UK have no say.

No. I watched the slide show and I agree with your husband. I have seen kilts on men that I thought was okay, but they were from Scotland. Axl Rose might be able to pull it off but most of the men on that website just look ridiculous. Maybe it was the styles or the way they were being worn but I wouldn't ever wear one of those. I'm not saying I wouldn't be open to the idea, I just didn't see anything appealing.

they are a great eye catcher. women love them.
A kilted Scotsman was walking down a country path after finishing off a large amount of whiskey at a local pub. He felt quite sleepy and decided to nap against a tree.

As he slept, two female tourists heard his loud snoring. When they found him, one said, "I've always wondered what a Scotsman wears under his kilt."

She boldly walked over to the sleeper, raised his kilt, and saw that he wore nothing at all. Her friend said, "Well, the mystery is solved! Let's thank him for sharing!"

She took off her pretty blue hair ribbon and gently tied it around the Scotsman's endowment. A while later, the Scotsman was awakened by the call of nature. He raised his kilt and was bewildered at the sight of the neatly tied blue ribbon. He stared for a minute, then said, "I don't know where y'been laddie... but it's nice ta see you won firrrst prrrize!"

Utilikilts are great, but if he isn't comfortable with them then they aren't for him. You have to be proud to wear a utilikilt to pull it off. I've never considered any kind of kilt obscene. And I gotta say, a man who can properly wear a great-kilt is quite appealing.

I don't seem to understand why you and your husband feel it is a topic on which you should argue. What benefit will either of you realize by changing the other's mind?

He thinks they are stupid, you like them. So what? He'll never wear one and the world will keep on spinning inspite of that.

So, you think they are neat. Good for you!

And he thinks they are "obscene", yes? Great!

Now, on to the next topic...

I am living in Italy and I remember someone put this on the market for summer in the 80' , they looked fine but it was long kilt covering most part of the legs, not like its shown on the web site. Personally I think it can be done just for fun or special occasions not in normal life, PLEASE!

Well, I think kilts are not practical on men. Especially in the cold, or in the event of being mugged.

Just ask him to be sure that when he paints his toenails, that they match the kilt. Fashion conscious is important.

I don't see why they couldn't. Quite a few guys I know have/wear them, and they look damn good.
