I've researched her but I dont know who she is. It's something that most people seem to know and I dont. I'm sure her painting has appeared on a film called The Da Vinci Code. What has she got to do with that and why does she seem to be so famous and how come that painting is so popular? Is she something mysterious or something? I just dont know anything about her?

The identity of the Mona Lisa is unknown and has always been unkown, that is why you cannot find anything. That is also partly the reason why the painting is so famous, besides the fact that it is a painting from Leonardo Da Vinci. There are numerous therories of who it may be, but one of the most interesting therories is that it is a "self" portrait being the opposit gender. If you are doing a report throw this in, its amazing. Take a picture of Leonardo as close to the same composition and size as the Mona lisa and super impose them to each other, the facial features are strikingly similar and this is why many therorists believe tha Mona Lisa is a self portrait.

but others believe if a self portrait of himself as the female form as some scinctest has checked the dimensions and found that Da vinci and mona have the same dimensions.

It's just a very famous painting by Leonardo da Vinci. I don't think anone knows who she was but she is famous for her 'enigmatic smile'!

They do know who she is, I don't.
She's the wife of a shipping guy I think I read once, could be wrong though.
Anyway she is some rich lady who sat for the portrait.
I think her smile says something about the things she would like to do with the artists naked body. Its not so enigmatic to me. Its lust, repressed lust but still lust. Check it out.
