Why do pop stars think that they are the ones to save the world?

I find it realy annoying as they think that they are the ones to get the answers. For example that nutter from Jamiraqui thinks he is the only person who asks about arms trade. Hasn't he heard of Amnesty International? Why doesn't he join Amnesty? Yes it makes a lot of people annoyed abouit these things and as for that hip-hop bloke who wants to consume less water, hde could get off his fat butt and ask the propper people. why should I do his work for him so he can make more money?

Im with you 100% on this one. Its arguable that saint Bob of Geldoff and Lord Bono have their hearts in the right place. I appreciate that Live 8 drew awareness to the plight of Africa etc etc, but its a drop in the ocean. The only way developing countries are going to prosper is if the World Bank calls off third world debts, and in this grim capitalist cesspool of the western world in which we live, that isnt gonna happen any time soon! I think that most celebrities feel damn guilty about their lifestyle; about the drugs they take, the women they f**k and their huge amounts of money that making it public that theyre giving a tiny portion of their money to a charity will make their careers guilt free!! Well, this is just this socialist left wing view!

Like it or not, pop stars are in a position where they have a microphone and when they speak thousands (or in some cases millions) of people listen to them.

Some of them, like anyone else, have concerns about "serious" issues and choose to use the platform they have to talk about that. And, historically, this has been proved to be an effective method to bring issues on to the political agenda.

These issues don't end up on the political agenda because "that nutter from Jamiraqui" said something about it though - they end up there because people listen to what he has said and then decide in mass numbers that this issue is something they want to see something done about which puts politicians under pressure to act.

Amnesty International have been quite happy to exploit musicians profiles in the past in order to promote their own agenda - for example see the Art for Amnesty website - and many pop stars are quite open in their support of Amnesty.

As with anything else the key is making up your own mind about something - something is not true just because a pop star says it any more than it is true because a politician says it.

THEY ARE PROUD AND RUDE. I find it annoying too that celebrities, movie stars, musicians and porn stars think they can save the world. The funny thing is they can not save themselves from cancer, their own marriages and accidents or bankruptcy.

Most of these people are the least intelligent in society and school drop outs who have managed to ascend the ladder of fame by the mere fact that our societies are becoming morally decayed.

I am not bothered much about how hard they try to think themselves saviors of the world. Lo! You shall look and find not their place tomorrow because they will be swept away by cancer, drugs, or by the gun.

Shut up!! The more people who speak out against the corruptness of this world we live in the better, and celebrities are in the fortunate position where people actually listen to them. Good for them, I think. They seem to be far more alert to the worlds real problems then the leaders who are supposed to be in control.
