Have excellent grades in your schoolwork up to the time you apply and hope there is an opening where you want to go. Then you have to be selected. You don't just get in because you qualify.

You must obtain a bachelor's degree before you can apply to Medical School. Most students major in Biology and minor in Humanities (Philosophy is a popular minor among pre-med students), do lots of community work, work with their pre-med counselor and professors to prepare for the MCAT exam and must take a minimum of 2 Biology courses (with lab), 4 Chemistry courses (General and Organic) and 2 Physics courses along with some necessary Math. Getting admitted into a medical school in the USA is a very competitive process and some schools do not admit international students due to the hefty tuition cost (over 200,000 USD for 4 years). There are some great medical schools in the USA - check the AMA (American Medical Association) website for more information.

It is a little bit different from other countries. Medical schools in U.S.A don't admit students directly from high school.

First you have to be admitted to some college to take general course (you can choose major in chemistry or biology), we call pre-medicine.

Finish basic courses in there ( usually require 4 years to complete ).After that you take MCAT - the standarized test for medical student.

Requirements for medical school:
- G.P.A when finish the pre-medicine courses
- MCAT test score
- Interview
because medical field is very special, so your attitude and background information is extremely important to determine if you're qualified.

*** Tuition for medical school is very high (over 40,000 for tuition per year). because the change you get scholarship or financial aid is very small (if not impossible), you have to prepare about $200,000 before going to school ( if admitted)
