Don't use powder comet on sinks, tubs or any smooth surface.
Leave it to your pots only. It will rough up the surface and stains and dirt will become much more of a problem in the future. Some tile walls have a protective coating on the gout sic to keep the dirt from soaking in. You will be removing it. The coating I am speaking of is renewed every few years and mostlikly only in high top of the line construction installations. Available at Lowes etc. Alot of work. I don't do it, but if you are fussy You don't say what kind of stains. Some minerals are impossible, others like rust only require proper soaking with the right chemical. Perhaps a book from the library or a web page as there are people who come up with all kinds of basic chemicals (cheaply) rather that the everything "claim" pachage goods.

Stop with the Comet or any other abrasive....as others have mentioned. You are just making your problem worse by making microscopic scratches. If you need to use a powder, use BonAmi or BarKeeper-something, Friend I think.

You probably have soap scum to start. A good general purpose bathroom cleaner can be sprayed, allow to work and then use a sponge or nylong scrubby suitable for nonstick pans. Rinse. If you have tile and mold on the grout, treat with bleach or bleach product

Then use a mineral away product such as CLR, LimeAway, whatever. Spray, let sit, scrub lightly and rinse. Don't let it stay on more than a few minutes.

Finally finish the walls--NOT THE FLOOR- with either car wax or GelGloss. It puts a protective film over your shower.

You need a chemical to do that. They sale it at Lowe's and it's called Tub and Shower cleaner. It is a chemical that eats away anything and everything that doesn't belong on the tile or tub, but does not tarnish the item.
It literally makes it brand new, but it does put out a fume so don't breathe it.
Your suppose to apply it with a large sponge and wear gloves.
Then leave it one for 30 minutes and then wash it off and everything but the kitchen sink comes off.

There are many Tub and Shower cleaners for sale at any store and for most of the domestic cleaners is a waste of money. Their not strong enough to handle tough jobs,
Chemicals is the keys, but it is something that must be handled with extreme caution.
I use acid when my drains get clogged and it works so fast ...it's not funny. This acid can aslo be used on tile, but here again, when you use chemicals to do a tough job, you must exercise caution, but the results are fantastic.

Mr. Clean makes those new bathroom scrubbers. Its like a sponge on the end of a rod so you can reach and scrub without getting wet or breaking your back.
