Actually if you hit a Wombat you wouldn't be leaving the scene, but the Wombat would shake himself & waddle off. Your car would be a write off.

Wombats, for those who don't know what they are, are a mobile large chunk of concrete with short legs.

it's not that much important...we are hitting a large number of humanbeings every day...i'm really sorry for that...not for hitting an animal!

Actaully depends on the animal and place it was hit. If I'm driving in a public area day or night and I accidently hit the animal sure I would stop and if it had a collar or looked like someone's pet then I would go door to door til I found out who it belonged to and let them know. Why should a small child come home from school and find their family pet laying dead or hurt on the side of the road? Now if its out on the highway and not dark or bad weather sure I'd stop and see if I could do anything to help the poor animal. But sorry I dont think I could stop in the middle of the night because I have a fear of being stuck in the dark somewhere and someone attacking me a dream I've had every since I could remember and not going to let it happen :) hope that answers your question.

Yes, I would, of course I feel for animals, and I hope this never happens! I could deal with hitting a wombat; ;~) Damage to my car can be fixed, but I'd feel bad for the animal for a very long time.

It depends on the circumstances. I ve hit deer and returned. You might have to drag them off the road or put them out of their misery. Once I got over the top of the crest of a hill, goin' about sixty, and there was a big, white duck in the middle of the road. I didn't even slow down. There was nothing I could do. That duck just saw a blue flash and that was it. I didn't go back.

I have run over a cat before and I didn't. I was bad. It was dark out. If I hit something bigger, like a dog, I would. A deer would probably do some damage and I would call the cops to be able to turn it into the insurance.

Yes of course I would go back to the scene. I hit a coyote one night while driving home (a large wild dog), and it was still alive when I went and looked at him. I called my Dad (a farmer) and he came with a shotgun to put the poor thing out of his misery

i hit a dog in my car when the entire family, grandmother and father-son and wife, and kids, were all outside and the grandfather was pullinginto the driveway. The dog ran into the road to greet the grandfather and i nailed it. i got out of the car and apologized like crazy.. the son was a DICK and kept saying what if that was a kid... this freakin dog bolted into the road... i stopped but not in time... i got out and the dog was bleading out of its mouth... it was gross... i asked if there was anything i could do. they said no be more careful and they took the dog to a hospital or something... dont know what ever happened to that dogs...

Yes I would stop, I am one of those people that cry if I hit a squirrel or bunny and stop to make sure that there is nothing that I can do for it. OK, call me a hypocrite, I also hunt and eat meat.

And Stratus, that wouldnt be your fault, if they had properly restrained their pet you would not have hit the poor thing, I really hope that son takes care of his kids better.

I'd only go back if the animal was hurt, it if ran off like the deer that ran into my car, then there would be nothing I could do. Take care
