It would be cheaper to buy a new dryer. You would need to replace almost all the parts in the old one. Replacement parts are very expensive. We go a good used electric dryer at an auction company for $35, they even guarenteed it to work once we got it home. That was 4 years ago and it is still going strong.

There may be a way to convert a (natural) gas dryer into a propane gas dryer, though, if you don't mind having a BBQ gas tank standing around (and having to refill it from time to time). But that conversion - if possible - is still going to cost you, and must be done by a true expert, preferably a service engineer from the dryer manufacturer.

The heat mechanisms are not the same, you can REPLACE the gas with an electric if there is a 240 outlet at the location. Do note that it is usually more expensive to operate an electric than a gas for any type of major heating function.

the unit its self? no all the internal components are different, you`ll need a new unit, in addition to entirely stronger wiring to the plug, electric dryers run on 220 vac the new ones with 4 wires a gas dryer only needs 120 vac, 3 wires

It would be a lot cheaper to just replace it with an electric dryer.
But why do you want to do this in the first place?
