There are a few reasons. Firstly, it has become stylish for today's young adults to try having encounters with both sexes. Also there is the fact that there are no longer any ramifications to "coming out of the closet". Twenty years ago you could lose your job if your boss found out, but now even the army can't do that. People are much more understanding than they used to be. We are more accepting of homosexuality than we have been since the days of the Roman Empire! ( which is another time in history where being gay was stylish.)

Two reason
1. It is somewhat safer in some parts of the world to be open about your sexual preferences.
2. The percentage hasn't changed but since their are more people the actual number has gotten larger. Example: Say the percentage rate is 1% At an amount of 3 Million that is only 30,000 when you take in to account that their are over 6 Billion people now at the same rate that would be a number of 60 Million.

No water or formula, there are as many gay people as there were in the old days. They just don't hide their sexuality as much as they used to do, which is a good thing, because they don't have to lie to their husbands and wifes about loving them.

It is not that the incidence has increased, it is just that more people feel free to be who they are now. Fewer are hiding in sham marriages etc.

it isnt homosexuality that has increased, it is that people's attitudes have changed towards sexuality and it is accepted more in society.
