With an 83 - 78 regular season record, the Cards are now officially the worse team ever to win the World Series. If I were a Cardinals fan, I wouldn't be at all proud of this team. After all, they beat a team that pretty much beat themselves and played so poorly that they could easily be called, "The Motown Butchers". And, no, I am not a fan of any the teams that made the playoffs this year. So, don't try to throw that back at me.

I am a Mets fan.
I agree with the facts that the Cards have the worst regular season record of any World Series winner.
Having said that...congrats to the Cards and their fans. They got hot at the right time. I truly believe that both the Mets and the Tigers are better teams than the Cards, but that is why they play the games. It is not about giving the title to the team that has the best regular season record...or the best team "on paper."
The Cards got hot at the right time...the playoffs.
They are the team were lucky enough to have a .216 defensive catcher hit a game winning home run in the ninth...ok that is a little sour grapes from a Mets fan...LOL
WAY TO GO CARDS!!! YOU DESERVE TO BE WORLD SERIES CHAMPS!!

To say that they were the worst team to win the WS, I don't know about that. Yes they had the poorest record during the regular season, but they got in ,that's when you start over at 0-0,from there they won 11 games and the other teams didn't.That right there makes them the BEST.Now lets talk about 2004 where they had 105 victories and were the best team that year that didn't WIN the WS. So everything evens out. It doesn't matter either way there the WORLD CHAMPIONS everybody knows it, everybody is talking about it ,even you

To paraphrase NASCAR's Tony Stewart, "I've got the trophy and the championship. Who cares what they think!"
There were many years when the Cards had the best record going in and couldn't get it done in the postseason. There are a lot of factors that going into a 5 or 7 game series. It was just the Cards year to win it.

If you go by record, yep, the Cardinals are the worst.
If you go by the team themselves, I'd say the "Hitless Wonders" in 1906, the "Miracle Mets" in 1969 (because they were losing 100 games a year before that season), the '14 "Miracle Braves", the '91 Twins, and the '60 Pirates are worse

I lost 24,000 betting on the world series. I bet on the Yankees, Tigers, A's, Twins, and the Mets to win it and then they all bite the dust and the Cards win.......darn

Yes, if you are strictly looking at the stats. But stats doesn't matter, winning is winning, anyway you cut it. All that matters is the BOTTOM LINE, they are winners.
