The truth is that nobody knows. Are the studies giving the subjects 'normal' amounts of Splenda? Could it be somethng else causing the cancer? Splenda hasn't been around long enough to really know. Personally, I try to eat as much natural food as possible. Sugar isn't a bad thing when eaten in moderation - just like everything else. Of course, if you're diabetic, or have some other reason not to eat sugar, then you're looking for something to substitute. It is my opinion that Splenda is probably the least toxic of the options. But if you are just dieting, it's probably best to simply limit your intake of sweets, learn to drink your tea/coffee without it, and eat a balanced diet. Also, natural foods are probably your best bet in either case, since there are more nutrients in less food, and there are fewer 'bad' fats and toxins in food that is as close to it's original form as possible. You don't have to be a 'food nazi' about it, just make wise choices when you have the opportunity and indulge on rare occasions.

Splenda is too expensive. Actually, you should give the girls pink packets of sweet n low and the boys the blue packets of Equal.

its just plain wrong. Were you not ever a kid? Would you have liked to get splenda or sweet and low as a treat when you were 8 years old. At least give them an apple or something they can sink their teeth into. Chocolate would be even better. You have become old and stodgy!! its not about you. Its about the kids having fun.

First of all, children are not allowed to have artificial sweeteners. It is EXTREMELY bad for their little bodies (and not much healthier for adults, I can tell you that.). Secondly, what in the world would a kid do with a package of Equal?? Put it in their coffee?? If you don't want them, throw them away. Get some REAL candy and hand it out, or better yet, turn your light off and don't hand out anything at all.

what????? maybe they will give you a cup of fake coffee in return, I hope my kids don't live next to you. don't even turn your light on, they would rather get nothing, if you are trying to give out a healthier option why not give a sugar free candy instead, trying to save money? give nothing the kids will appreciate it more and you wont be the laugh of the neighborhood. face it Halloween is for kids not adults watching their waistline

If you know Splenda is healthier, then do the right thing.

If you know that Equal is dangerous (and it is!), do the right thing and destroy them. What kid wants sugar substitute anyway? Get some healthy snacks for the kids!
