i agree with you. it is refreshing to hear a teenager say that. high school kids are having sex for many different reasons. personally i think it is from the deterioration of the family institution. some kids are desperate for love, others have not had any real guidance, and of course for the rest the media and societal norm has made it exceptable. many don't realize there is far more consequences than pregnancy and std.

So what if they have sex? That's their choice, and I think you should respect that without judging them. You may think that they are dumb or clueless, but most of them know well enough to use birth control. I had sex in high school, and I don't regret it, and I was smart about it. So you can come off your soapbox now.

a lot of teenagers have sex because of not only the peer pressure that "everybody" is doing it but also because there is that curiosity of the unknown. they figure once they have sex, theyll know what the fuss is all about but without realizing its consequences such as an STD, pregnancy or even AIDS. The best thing a teenager can do is practice abstinence which is to not have sex and enjoy being young. sex doesnt make you cooler or popular, and you should be more mature to experience it.

Because they are irresponsible and they get caught up in the moment. Some take birth control pills, but those are A) dangerous b) not allowed under a certain age c) I think pills that stop something as natural as babies is just WRONG and d) dont always work. I believe that on dates you should NEVER go to some secluded place. even if you think your responsible and wont have sex, sometimes hormones just take over

It true. It's to fit in, and then it becomes a must and a habbit. But looking back as a married woman I'd give anything to go back and save myself for the man I love and Married. I way more important than fitting in getting your heart broken and risking being a singl mother as a teen. Or worse with aids.

I dont know why they do what they do, more importantly though is you. Congratulations for seeing it the way you do. If more people your age thought like you did, there would be alot less unwanted pregnancies and alot less diseases going around. Keep feeling they way you do. Keep your virginity as long as you can stand it, believe me, you will not regret it. I know alot of people my age (28) wish they would have waited for that special someone.
And just for the record, I was so curious about sex when I was a teenager. When I decided to try it, afterwards I wondered what all the hype was about. I never fully enjoyed sex until i was older and had the mental capacity to realize it was so much better when doing it with someone I cared about and who cared about me.

It is during this stage that adolescents become curious about a lot of things and also the time when their bodies go through changes. During this time, they would want to experience something that they just heard about or watched in films when they were younger. It is also a stage where flirting begins and this kids start to be aware of the opposite sex. Teenagers should be made aware of the consequences of having sex at this early stage.

I don't regret having sex in high school. I don't have any diseases. I got pregnant my senior year but I don't regret my child either. I've only been with one person. The reason I was having sex was because I was in love. My high-school sweetheart and I are still together. It's great that you are waiting. I was 17 when I got pregnant, 18 when I had my daughter. I was still young but old enough to work at a good place and take care of my responsibilities. My cousin was 14 when she got pregnant, has chlamydia, doesn't know her child's father or even who he could be. You have a good head on your shoulders.

Most of the time it's peer pressure and the quest to "fit in". Everybody seems to have the mentality of "everybody else seems to be doing it so I will as well". And you're right, a lot of kids who have sex too young end up regretting it later on in life (especially those that end up pregnant). I was exactly like you in high school. For the life of me I couldn't figure out why so many of my classmates were running around having sex. SO MANY girls in my class ended up pregnant and never reached their senior year of high school. They dropped out of school and gave up on educating themselves. And I come from a very small town..not a big city school. I went out on dates, had boyfriends and enjoyed a fun social life without ever giving it up to some guy who said that they "loved me". I'm not condemning kids who do have sex..I'm not the judge/jury/executioner..I just wish that kids would realize that they have their whole lives ahead of them and that there's no hurry to rush into sex.
You have a very good head on your shoulders. Keep on being a leader and not a follower.
