Hi, my b/f is American, I'm French. He says that he 'likes' me... is it possible that he could mean it in more than a friendly way.
Do English-speaking persons say 'I like you' meaning romantically intersted... at least in the early stages of a relationship?

Yes they do use that in meaning that you like a person as in to borrow a phrase from the English, that you fancy someone. Then it may get to the phase of "I really like you" or "I like you a lot" which is good too...
That sounds about right for early stages but just make sure he thinks you are his girlfriend in return so you do not get his meaning misunderstood...ask him hon! Good luck!

I'm going to try and be there. I am confused about BSL in the state of IL though. I was under the impression that HB 184 prohibited any type of BSL in the state, so how would Highland Park be able to pass this? There are also other cities that have BSL, so I'm a little confused.

lol. hun you're dealing with an American man so he was probably taught young not be be honest about his feelings. The possibility of him meaning I like you a lot is pretty good. But he may also just be trying to say that he doesn't fall in love so here's the best you're gonna get..... hard to say without details.

I would take that just as it sounds.

If a guy saids he like me, that is what he means even if he is dating you.
At that point
if you don't like him or
want to start to get serious,
it is time to tell him you only want to be friends.

So my answer would by yes to your last question, this is the early stage of a relationship

Like is to have affection for someone. Love is the next step. Sadly in English speaking countries to say 'I love you' seems to be very difficult. The next best thing is to say 'I like you'.

Possible for Europeans. I have a friend who has a danish boyfriend for five months now, and he would say He likes her loads. He never says i love you, but his acts manifest that he does 'love' her.

You would know best soon. :-)

Wording is not a 'group' american thing. It can mean something
different to different people.

Just ask him what it means to him!
