though I have met very nice ppl over the time but yes there have been a few incidents when I was made to feel an outsider...job pincher etc....I work in food industry and one day I saw a young Australian couple making faces as a black girl was serving them...i felt very bad n thought may be they feel the same for us.
Other day my husband was bashed up badly and police dint do much .he has given up and according to him we ll never fit in so I should draw a line n behave accordingly but i enjoy talking to ppl ..its natural for me to smile at a baby or most of the old couples in bus or train ..Many a times ppl don’t reciprocate. I know everyone isn’t like that but dont know what to think....will I ever feel at home here...or...

You know people who are racists should be wiped out of the Earth. I am part indian too and i know how you feel. Just do what you do. Keep on smiling. Dont let idiotic fools spoil your day or ur life. One day they will realise that the only inferior race are racists. God will protect those who are kind. Your smile can do wonders. Stick with those who you comfortable but continue to mix around. Judge yourself whether the people are racist. If they return your smile they should be humans...and its fine to mix with human.

Who has been telling you there is a "problem" with Chinese and Indian influence here? Who ever it is, has no idea what they're talking about. Try looking at Australian provincial cities such as: Geelong, Victoria Longreach, Queensland Dubbo, New South Wales Broome, Western Australia Whyalla, South Australia Queenstown, Tasmania Alice Springs, Northern Territory. They'd be just the sort of place you're looking for.

Hi Mini,.. I am also in Australia, i am Aboriginal and there is a place for everyone in this world whether its here or there. AS long as we respect each other and do the right thing then its all good. And im sorry to hear about your husband, unfortunately it depends on if you get a good or bad police officer taking the case, there is always good and bad out there.
Peace and Happiness to you..

Hey I'm Australian, keep smiling and talking!! I get the same reactions, I don't think it is because of anything except that you will always come across people who are rude, selfish and inconsiderate, in ANY country. Nothing wrong with you, that's their problem.
I'm sorry about what happened to your husband, and that the police weren't much help. Make it your business to seek out the nicer people, I'm sure there's plenty you have yet to meet! - Goodwill!

There are ugly people everywhere and that shouldn't deter you from living in Aus., but try to surround yourself with people who support you. As for teh police can't you report them to a higher authority? Also if you like you can come to the US, we love Indians here and there are large Indian communities. It takes a long time to feel at home somewhere. Best Wishes!

racism is not a joke those people who beat up your husband has no right to treat him this way jus because he is indian, the police sounds even worse, dont be pushed away by this , if you like it there then stay there, report this the police, even if they dont help at least you know that they reported it , i hate racists people are people, colours are not what is important and i wish all those racists idiots saw that to, just because im a indian i get called a terriorist by racists on the net.it just not right.

i hope the racists leave you alone.

well your the one who has entered into their country so its your place to fit in , not for them to make u feel welcome..Australia is very multi cultural , i am Australian and my husband is from Pakistan, he came here knowing he had to live the Australian lifestyle while still being able to keep his beliefs and living this way he has never been treated differently and has been accepted and made his new life here easily..and i don't think the police would not investigate a bashing because the victim was of a certain race..maybe your a little uncomfortable and are reading more into what is actually there..
