My son has recently asked me 'how are babys made?' I was scared/ didn't know how to answer him so I said 'I'm busy, I'll tell you another time.' It seems like he forgot but the question might pop up again. What should I do?

I told my daughter in a factual way.

The man's penis gets stiff enough to stand up and he puts it inside the lady where the sperm goes etc. I mentioned the love and closeness and maturity aspects and the importance of trust. It turned out she had found it all out for herself already and I just confirmed it for her.

When a child asks, it is usually because they need confirmation of information from another source. So a way round it would be to ask what they already know and put them right.

Good luck.

When my kids were little, I found a cartoon-like illustrated story book called "WHERE DID I COME FROM?" that I gave to them (I think they were 5 and 9 at the time). Every day after school, my 9 year old daughter would read this to my 5 year old son, and they would laugh and laugh ! It explained everything in a very comical way with ZIGGY-like characters pointing out the highlights.

Try to find this book in your local book store or library -- it's really cute, tells the facts in a way a child can comprehend them, and provides you with the ease of mind that they are getting the correct information and having a fun time too!

Depends on the age of the child...but if he is old enough to ask the question, he is old enough to hear the answer. You don't have to go into graphic detail...he simply asked you how babies are made. You could say "When a mommy and a daddy fall in love with each other and have so much love to share that they want to have a baby to share it with." For a pre-schooler this would be a sufficient answer. Just give him the basic answers suitable for his age...when he's older, then you will really need to be specific and warn him about unprotected sex and so on...for now tho...answer him in the basic terms that he can understand

Give him a simplified version. When my son was 3, and he got a new baby brother he wanted to know where the baby came from. I told him that he grew in mommy's tummy and that we had to go to the hospital to get him out. Ha ha.....he went around telling everyone baby's come from hospitals. Depending on his age you really don't have to tell him an awful lot of details. He probably is not looking for a ton of details anyway.

The truth! Obviously depending on his age u will need to consider how much info u provide but it's better to hear from u than his mates who may feed him the wrong info. Most important is to instill in him the need to wear his socks. There are some good books in the library that will assist u in dealing with the issue, just ask the librarian

Child or not honesty is the best answer considering the way society has changed since the 60's.

He might embarrass you with repeating how babies are made to anyone who will listen, but it's better to start with the truth no matter what the age.

If you feel it is too soon for him to know the truth, tell him when married people love each other very much, and they want a baby very badly, their love will make a child. That way, you're not lying and not telling him the whole truth yet.

give him the explanation that mums egg is mixed with dads seed and it makes a baby. If you don't want to explain sex in great detail then say it was made during a special cuddle. Then as he gets older explain more. Better than him learning from myths on the playground we did this with our kids who are eleven now and know all the facts

There are many books suitable for the purpose.......sit down with one and talk through it together then let him read it alone and be open to any questions he may come back with. If he is curious then tell him, but do a properjob not airy fairy stuff. Ask a teacher perhaps to recommend such a book if you are unsure what or where to find .

I have a 10 year old & a 12 year old, every time they have asked me a question about anything i simply tell them the truth. You have to tell them in language they understand & give them the freedom to ask more if they dont understand fully. Please dont try to lie, as they can either tell or catch you out on it anyway.
Its fun being a parent isnt it? Lol
