I was thinking of that today, the iron men. I looked it up on web, under iron men at crosby, sites came up and it looks as though they have gone or are going end oct/nov to america. Apparantly people complained about them.

Crosby's NOT "NEAR" Liverpool - but "PART OF" Liverpool...!
It's postcode is Liverpool 23...! (That's what you get all over Merseyside (aka Greater Liverpool) - its suburbs never seem to want to admit they've got anything to do with Liverpool...!)

Fact is - Crosby's a pretty nice old suburb of North Liverpool, between Waterloo and Formby - 6 or 7 miles from the city centre. It's surrounded by pine-forests (last home of the red-squirrel) and sand-dune beaches - (where the Iron Men are) - which continue all the way up to the elegantly decaying but still smart seaside resort of Southport.

ANTONY GORMLEY'S iron men statues are set to become a permanent feature on the Merseyside coast.

A charitable trust is expected to be set up within days to stop the Another Place artwork being removed from Crosby beach this autumn.

The board of trustees, to include MPs and high-profile business people, would raise funds to buy the piece, ending months of speculation over whether it would remain in the region for the 2008 celebrations.
