The lightest thing is not here anymore it has gone. Gravity could not hold it any longer. So we don't know what it is.
True answer, it has tobe the gas that is at the higest level of our stratosphere. I think that is CO2 but not sure. Natural gas also rises very quickly. I don't remember the formula for natural gas. A feather falls by gravity, so it is heavier than these gasses.

well acording to chemical nature the hydrogen is lightest. But since it is reactive it is not considered much lighter than helium.
Also since thereis controversy between light as particle nature or wave nature, if it is particulate in nature the photons ( light particles) are lightest in nature

Basic Fundamantal Paticals such as Bita,Gamma,positron and neutrino has no mass.Some peoples would say air but if you have weight a ballon filled and not filled their is a difference.
