I work for a company that has a new hotel in Turkey and I need to boost the bookings for next season. Tried emailing holiday companies but no reply as yet. Has anyone any experience of this?

There are several ways to gain exposure for your hotel. First go after the travel agents. There are a lot of us out here and we are always looking for new and exciting places to suggest to our clients. Also consider offering FAM trips to the travel agents so they can come and actually preview the property. If they like what they see, they will suggest it to their clients. You can also start in the blogging world. Start a blog about your new hotel and keep the blog going with interesting facts about the hotel and surrounding attractions.
Do some research with the other hotels in the area. Who are their clients...Europeans, Americans,etc..what age range?..and what are they looking for in a vacation destination. Once you find out this information them market to that niche group.
Good luck

Hand write invitations to holiday companies to come visit for a reduced rate. Having them be familiar with the experience staying at your hotel will implant an impression that an email cannot. In this age, you can make anyplace look desirable, but experience goes much further. Take your advertising budget, target the holiday company that best serves your hotels target market and spend the budget on making sure those decision makers come visit your new hotel and make their experience unforgetable.

Try to contact the main online travel companies such as Expedia, Lastminute, ebookers, Travelocity, Octopustravel, Kayak, Opodo etc.

Just go on their website and search for the "contact us" link, you'll find contact details of the sales rep, who can sign you up to be featured on their websites.

have you placed an ad in the local newspaper, failing that you might be better off taking the information to the travel agents themselves for them to look at or contact their head office.
