Following is a movie sequence:
A phone nearby the hero rings. He then picks it up. Wow! The call is for him! The other end says about a bomb blast plan or speaks ill about hero's girlfriend. And the story moves...

Is this sort of call possible in any country? If yes, how people who calls you know exactly where you are?

it is possible (in america i know) on alot of phones, right on the front they have the number to that payphone...others say 'no incoming calls'.

it is possible for someone to get ahold of a map with all the payphones on it and the corresponding numbers, cause the operator and phone companies and stuff have all that info.

then, if you had that and were following the person, or had someone following the person you could just call the number appropriate to where he was.

it used to be until all the dope dealers started using pay phones to run their business its still possible except you can barley here the phone ring its more of a clicking sound if there is a number on the phone you can receive calls from that phone or at least that's the way it was in the d.c. area about 6-7-yrs ago things may have changed now

i think that it is possible.every public phone has a number to call to.e.g:i can tell a friend to be near the public phone in front of the mall on 4 o'clock, then i can call that phone so my friend can get the call) i think that the number can be found written on the window of the phone's room.(just guessing)...
