Chris,
I have found that lethargy often begats lethargy. I know when I sleep more, I want to sleep even more. I function much better with 6-7 hours sleep than I do with 9-10 hours. Try this, force youself to get up after 7 hours, and then stay busy for the next 18-19 hours then hit the sack. After a couple of days you will know if it is just a body clock function break down. After that with no positive results, I would call my family doctor. Good luck.

The exact same thing happened to me - it took just a few blood tests, but the root of my problem was an underactive thyroid gland. Also in the morning I felt like I couldn't waken up properly and would quite happily sleep 24 hours a day! Go to the doc, could be that or a number of different things but definitely get it checked out. Good Luck!

There are many reasons for excess sleepiness. If it has just come on in the last few days, you are probably just fighting off an infection or you have over-exerted yourself. If it has been going on for a while, then it might be time to ask your doctor.
Some causes are depression (losing interest in things, feeling unhappy); hypothyroidism (feeling cold, gaining weight); anaemia (looking pale, easily breathless). Better to get a proper check-up than worry about it!

Yes, there must be.
Sleep is the defence mechanism of our body. All repairs are best carried out during sleeping period. Vital Energy (Pranshakti) of our body is mostly utilised by brain, mind, heart and stomach. During sleep activities of brain and mind almost stop, heart becomes slow and if you don't eat stomach too will not use this Vital Energy. Our body gets this extra Energy for repairs and you are saved from illness.
Whenever you feel "not feeling well" avoid foods and go to sleep. You can have citrus fruits. They clean body nicely.

Is this a constant problem or just one of those days? I do something not as extreme, but close enough, and I don't really mind it. I can sleep for 10 hours even when I'm not tired, and I usually need two alarm clocks to wake me up. And even then, it's not enough. I swear, I can sleep through a nuclear attack...lol

I've always been a very big sleeper, but 15 hours does seem excessive. I would pop in to see your GP who may want to run some tests to check you're OK.
Do you sleep that much every night? Also, are you a teenager? For some reason, teenagers seem to be able to sleep for amazing amounts of time.

1) You sleep a lot.
2)you drink a lot of fluids.
3)you get up in the night to pee.
4)sudden weight gain or lose.

If you answer yes to any of the above, go to your Doctor and ask to be tested to see if you are diabetic.

i always do it but often feel worse when i wake up! its normal to feel tired especially in the afternoon because our blood sugar levels drop. also before and during a period you can feel very tired. maybe go to a GP for a blood test for something like iron deficiency or low blood pressure?
