Well, my uncles and stepfather all served in World War II, but none of them are still living. None of them talked much about it, either--all my stepfather said is that he served in the Pacific and also on convoy duty in the North Atlantic--it wasn't until many years after his demise that I discovered he'd also been a POW.

It is probably going to be hard to find a World War 2 hero alive.Senior ex president George Bush was one of them but I do not know if he wrote a book about his life.
