How do I identify a good friend? Good Question. Well, in my opinion the first thing you have to realize there are many kinds of friends.
Comrades - essentially workmates who are friends at work but you don't socialize outside the workplace.
Fair weather friends - only there if something you do will benefit them.
Social Friends - always there to have fun with but never when you're down.
Short term Friends - great while they're here but then they're gone!
Life Long Friends - "if you're fortunate enough to find one!" They're with you through thick or thin. They genuinely listen to you and you do the same to them. You have fun together and yearn for their company.

So, you can see, you can identify a good friend.

A good friend, first of all, is a good listener. He listens more and talks only about himslef when asked. Knows how to give sincere sympathy especially in your trouble moments. Give kind words, moral booster words, words of encouragement and cares a lot.

Also a good friend does not befriend you because of a motive (money, oppurtunity, etc.). He doesn't take advantage of anybody. He doesnt ask favor all the time. He doesnt look at a friends economic status----levels with anybody.

If you're loyal to them, normally you can tell if they are to you. But, most important, when you need them, they are there for you. If they're not, obivously they aren't a good friend.
But, I have also found that they might be there for you but they don't always treat you like a frined, more of a person they can get a ride from or a person they can go places with bc there's nobody else.
One of my best frineds doesn't treat me n another friend of mine right all the time, its always what she wants to do. We're trying to fiure out ways to tell her without her getting mad at us, bc dats how she n many other ppl are. The best kind of friend does not argue with u a lot and has no reason to. If you and your best frined can live together for 3 days straight, them it's a mircale. But to not be able to get through a night without getting in a fight, of any kind, is a baaad sign.
