Well to be honest Norton isnt good at all and will slow down your machine. I would either conatct them and ask how to fix the problem or if not change to a diffrent company that would work but could be expensive.
What p2p are you using?

I agree that Norton is slow. I don't know if I'm alone in thinking this but I think that it has got worse and worse over the last couple of years. I spent two enfuriating hours with their support desk who couldn't help with Norton (CCAPP.EXE) hanging my email (Outlook). The last straw was when they started reminding me one full month before to renew my virus definitions and then almost forced me to buy the new version when I wanted to purchase a new years subscription. I canned them completely and went with McAfee and I am MUCH happier. I have TrendMicro on work laptop and that's good too. So I guess my answer is get rid of Norton when your subscription expires!

only way to get it to stop, is to uninstall it. You get this, because you send out packets to yourself, and to the others on the p2p network, and you recieve packets. Nortons a waste. There should be a setting to disable intrusion alert.

norton is doing its job. ares is trying to let other computers to have access to your shared files. your computer is acting as a "server"
try changing the norton setting to "trust" Ares.

i think is a matter of firewall. if nothing works, get rid of norton and get Zonealarm. easy to use and free! www.zonelabs.com

Please don't use norton it really sucks... I tried it once and for me it's USELESS... Try Bitdefender, Nod32, AVG Free Edition these are very powerful anti-viruses. If you want some firewall try ZoneAlarm, it's free. You can download it @ www.download.com, this website don't have viruses & spyware.
