I would highly recommend Google Earth. It is a highly interactive world map with satellite imagery layered on some of earth's most popular places. It is full of useful information and features. Far too many to list on here. Just a little warning, though. It is very addictive so once you get it you might not leave your computer for a while.

i have to agree with thomas goggle earth is amazing.. just do a web search for goggle earth and download the free software there is also a version that you can pay for iv never had the payed version but am sure it will be even better
