they give the direction the wind is blowing from, so a Northerly wind will blow from the North, Easterly from the East etc

A prevailing wind is usually a westerly wind in the UK - that means it blows from west to east. A northerly wind blows from the north and so on. Offshore breezes blow inland from the sea. If you catch one of the video weather reports with the arrows on them it will give you a better idea.

The North wind blows from the North (towards the south).

There's a little ditty that starts

The north wind doth blow,
And we shall have snow...

I'm afraid I can't remember the rest of it.

If the wind is blowing onshore, it is blowing from sea to land and offshore is vice versa.

Yes, doing fine. I always knew there was something else going on with that...The wind never just 'blows' for no reason. There's a Spirit in it. Glad to know it's you. Peace.

I believe a "westerly" means blowing in from the west, etc... next time you hear them saying it..... Look on a weather map, it blows from high pressure areas into low pressure areas. should be easy to work out.

I don't know but here's a tip.

When outside wet your finger tip and point to a direction and you can feel which way the wind blow. Someone told me this so I don't know if it works yet. :D
