no USA China Russia UK and France have more power than any other nations in the UN because they have seats in the security council.

Every nation has an equal vote, no matter what size it is or how much it contributes to the UN.

However, there's a bit of a scam that isn't discussed much. As Britain slowly granted independence to member countries of its old Empire, the nations joined the UN and each one gained an independent vote. But all nations remained part of the commonwealth and recognise the Queen as its head.

This benefits the nations with certain trade agreements and levels of security by being linked to the second most powerful nation in the world.

But Britain ensures all 53 commonwealth members vote the same way, therefore making Britain the UN power and deciding force on most initiatives.

A bit of a con.

Yes in the general assembly. But not all countries are members of the UN security council and so have little say in some matters like wars! The same as only some countries are in the G8 and the poorer ones get no say.

Not a UN expert, but they all have equal votes in the General Assembly. The Security Council is another matter - there one veto vote can stop a resolution.

Yes they do. The United Nations was formed just before the second world war, the phrase "United Nations" was coined by F.D.R. in 1941, I think it opened for business Jan. 1, 1942. It has an interesting history. One way of checking it's beginnings is to search for "History of United Nations" there you'll find a number of sites, take your pick.........LATER
