being a falconer, and my twin brother a master falconer, growing up with birds of pray has been a life long experience. The Vulture stands along by far. (in my opinion of course) This animal was built to withstand environments that would kill most anything else. here's what I mean...the bird eats and survives on dried up road kill while the maggots are still eating on it or worse, after they are finished. They have learned to float the air currents, saving energy while searching for food up to three miles high with an incredible eye sight. Since the Vulture sticks it's head into rotted, diseased cariean, evolution has developed the bird without feathers on it's head, making dust and dirt cleaning easier as well as sunning themselves after a good dusting with their wings spread wide open thus, killing all the bacteria. While other birds are going on the endangered species list, the Vulture will remain amongst the hardy. Hope this satisfies your curiosity. Enjoy. :) Oh, just for the record....this bird is not an BUZZARD. the word buzzard means mouse hawk aka; sparrow hawk or (kestrel)

Eagles.
My native area is called Calcasieu, a french misunderstanding of a Native American word meaning "screaming eagle". We have recently had many more eagles return to the area, mostly golden eagles.
I do take notice when vultures are circling me, and tend to move around a bit more when they do.
We don't have too many kites around here, not that I am aware of.
No, I don't think it is a stupid question.
