It is a misconception that cricket is killing other sports in India. No doubt cricket is more popular and admired than other sports. There is a large following for it, because people enjoy it. Even those who hardly know anything about the game indulge in discussing about the game. A batsman butchering a bowler or a fast bowler uprooting the stumps are all wonderful sights to be watched. Despite this, fielding gives essence to the game and entertains the fans. So it would only be right to give due credit to a sport which really has made the country proud.

no i don't think that cricket is killing all other sports in india.
because cricket is today standing that is all because of work of
crickters.
look when cricket is new in india,at that time we were champions
in hockey and other games.since 1983 there is not so much craze about cricket.
after 1983 we have performed really well in this game that's why
this game is popular tody.but if take other games what they have done.in hockey 99%we loose everytime.
sania mirja performed well that's why she is rewarded.
rajyavardhan singh rathod won silver in olympics and he got reward for that.
conclusion is if u will perform u will get reward.
crickters are performing no matter after two or three months
but atleast they won a trophy.that's why bcci is now world's
richest cricket control board.
one another example is o" pakistan".there hockey players
are worshiped why ?reason is one : there hockey team is one of world's best team.
anoher example is of our daily life.
suppose in a family there are two children.
one who approches to very good percentage and who just fails everytime. the kind of respect first will enjoy from his family
perhaps the second one cannot.
yes we can won medals in other sports also it is possible only when we will have good tech.,good coaches ,commited players
and a very good management and plaaning pannel...

No,that's not true.
Cricket is a television friendly game, hence it gets a lot of
sponsors.BCCI is the richest cricket board in the world.,as
cricket generates a lot of revenue from India.
Some of India's major achievments in cricket are
1983 world cup
champions trophy(involving all major countries) 1983-84
Hero Cup ,hosted by India year-199?
World cup 2003 runners up
and many more in Test cricket and also in odis
Being a television friendly game people know the game well,
and of course the stadiums are also full(for odis)
India has the potential to win gold at olympic track and field
events ,thanks to sportsmen like Anjali Bhagwat,Anju George,
Jaspal Rana, and many more, also indian tennis players
like Paes,Bhupathi, and the Indian hockey team
Other sports will flourish become equally popular, but
not by suppressing cricket, but by introducing them at school level
and making people aware/educating them about it.
Best Regards,

You don't seem to do too badly with hockey!
Think of how much fun kids get from running up and down by themselves in training! Much better fun to have a cricket team and then run up and down with your mates.
Apart from hockey I thought cricket WAS India's only sport.

yes.
B'coz it is so much highlighted that whether India looses or wins doesn't matter. All media is behind them which is hiding the importance of toher sports.
And so other sports r financially lingered.
