It's above number 3 but, when i press shift and 3 it comes out like this: #. Is there another way to view all the symbols and select it that way?

To install another language and keyboard layout in Windows XP, follow these steps:
In the Windows XP standard Start menu, click Start , and then click Control Panel .
In the Windows XP classic Start menu, click Start , click Settings , and then click Control Panel .
Double-click Regional and Language Options .
Click the Languages tab, and then click Details under "Text Services and Input Languages".
Click Add under "Installed Services", and then click the laguage you want to add and the keyboard layout you want to use for that language.
To configure the settings for the Language bar, click Language Bar under "Preferences".

Be sure you're pressing "shift" and not some other key (like "alt").
In absolutely worst cases (if you're stuck and need the symbol Right Now) you can find a £ sign in MS Word by going to Insert, then Symbol. The pound sign is in the middle of the 4th line down for, say, Arial text. You can insert it into Word, and then copy/paste it into the Internet page, or wherever.

That depends. What program are you using? What are you trying to get for a pound sign? In America, and other countries, # is the pound sign. If you are looking for the British Pound sign, and you are using Microsoft Word, you click the Insert drop-down menu, select Symbols... and that will open the special symbols window. You should be able to find it in there (and more). Also, when this window opens, look at the bottom...it tells you the name of the symbol you selected, allows you to make a shortcut key, and tells you what the windows standard shortcut is for that symbol (if there is one).
