The harmony of the 4 elements is very essential this is the balance of nature.
As a parent, one needs a solid ground to stand on, while water is life, in harmony to earth became food. Fire has been a test to strength of everyones relationship in day to day living. And never forget the wind that came from the storehouse of the Creator. This gives direction to our life and decision. The elements remained balance, as well as parenting.
I sound poetic, isnt it?

All of them.

Earth because you need to be able to stand firm and be realistic and down to earth.

Fire because sometimes children need to get burned to learn their lesson, which comes in the form of a harsh scolding. (Or scalding, if you'd like a pun.)

Wind because as a parent you always need to be able to change in a moment's notice.

And water because like the sea, your job as a parent can be smooth sailing, or it can be turbulent. A relationship between a parent can be warm or cold, but ultimately it will always surround you and sucks you in so much that it becomes a part of you.

((Plus, just like if you stay in the bath too long, being a parent gives you wrinkles earlier than you should have them!))

Earth I suppose, it IS Mommy after all,. But all of them do really, You need air, for the knowledge it will bring you to help your child. Fire for the passion to teach and love your babies, water of the calm fluidity you need, the flexibility, and Earth as the stable home environment.

I would say that earth is the one which best symbolizes parenting because the earth is fertile and gives birth to all that which grows off it. It gives its offspring a part of itself, depleting itself from time to time just to see them grow and expect nothing in return. Is that not like parenting?

All four, when they're born the kids break wind on you, when they grow older they throw mud at you, by the time they're teenagers they're drinking booze like water, which can lead to them being fired from their job.
