My wife of 6 years left me after i came home from work. She is from the U.S and moved back there with her family. I live in London, U.K, but she says she does not want a divorce, she still loves me but wants our marriage anulled. I was not a good husband, but she was not a good wife, I still love her very much and offered to go to coucelling etc to sort things out. How can i win her back, even though she says she wants to start a new life.

She says she still loves me and always will, she has basically run away from her problems. I still keep in touch with her dad and brother, her dad says it's not over till it's over, he's been divorced before. I don't think she's really happy over there, she has no credit, cannot get a place to live by herself that is, can't get a car, not even a bank account which is why she is using our old one and took my card & changed the password so i can't check. No-one has ever treated me so cruely, i hate myself so much and just want to die...

Man, I'm sorry to hear about your situation - marriage break-ups are never fun (been there myself). Just be kind to to yourself - I know that's much easier said than done, but running yourself over the griller ain't going to do any good for anyone concerned. I'm guessing your career path never made things any easier (a chef right?)...not saying that to put the boot in by the way; I just know that not everyone can handle being married to someone in this profession as it does take a toll.

Look, the best advice I can give you is to let her move on - it will hurt for a while, but neither of you will be able to start healing until you both make that move. As much as it is not a fun situation to be in, you can't force someone to stay; and would you want to even if you could?

Make sure you keep your friends close to hand - as men I know it can be hard to open up to others, but even just having the company of mates will prove an invaluable comfort in it's own right. Just give yourself the chance to grieve - this is all part of the healing process and is important.

And don't give up on the idea of love - the most important lesson of all. Don't think that just because your first marriage has come to an end, that things are all over - you never know when a second chance will come along if you let your heart remain open. Am getting re-married in a couple of weeks - something I couldn't have imagined when I first parted with my first wife.

Take care of yourself :)

NB: I'm not sure what she means about getting an annulment - as far as I know one can only get an annulment with a short period of time from the initial marriage. IS she catholic, as this is the only circumstance I could I can find where this applies - and you guys would still need to go through the divorce proceedings anyway.

It is a procedure that cancels your bankruptcy order. An order of annulment can only be made by the court. You can apply for an annulment at any time if: The bankruptcy order should not have been made, for example because the proper steps were not taken when obtaining the order; or All your bankruptcy debts and the fees and expenses of the bankruptcy proceedings have been either paid in full or secured (guaranteed) to the satisfaction of the court; or You have reached an agreement called an “individual voluntary arrangement” with your creditors to repay all or part of your debts. Visit the site below for more info I'm assuming you're in the UK.

Anullment is when a marriage is declared invalid. Please be assured that as much as it hurts now, you WILL feel better about it in time. Know that millions have been there before you and survived and even moved on to better lives. You may not believe it at the moment but most things that happen to us in life teach us something profound. Look for the message and move on in a positive way. Good luck.

Dude she is trying to let you down easy by saying she loves you.
Her wanting an annulment means it never was a marriage and is probably the truth.
Get on with your life and be a good husband to your next wife.

1 : to reduce to nothing : OBLITERATE
2 : to make ineffective or inoperative : NEUTRALIZE
3 : to declare or make legally invalid or void
NULLIFY

If she is Catholic she can not remarry in the Catholic church without an annulment. It's quite a process and not easy. After 6 years there is no way that she can get an annulment without a divorce regardless of her religion.

An anullment is basically voiding the marriage.
In other words, saying that there was never a marriage in the first place.
Usually, a marriage cannot be anulled if you guys made love. Unless she can prove you were a terrible husband.

Annulment is a legal procedure for declaring marriage null an void.Annulment differs from divorce where the court ends an otherwise legal marriage on a specific date.
In strict legal terminology, annulment refers to making a voidable marriage null;if the marriage is void then it is automatically null, although a legal declaration of nullity is required to establish this. The process of obtaining such a declaration is similar to the annulment process.

Annulment means that the marriage never took place. It never happened. Find out if it can be done after six years. Seems like a long time.
