I read somewhere that you can be sued if you libel someone in your blog if the public can read it. I need to know if this is true.
(It isn't me telling lies, it is someone else talking about me)
The same people are also slandering me. How do you go about suing someone for this?
Sorry this was kinda' two questions in one.

Yes it is possible to sue someone for libel, but I think it depends on the severity of what they are saying and if it qualifies as harassment or defamation of character. I would keep a record of their revalations and call the cops. You could also report the comments on the website. Just email the web master and tell them that if the remarks are not taken down you will take legal action. Good luck

If a person libels you and does so in writing and posts this writing any where that it is exposed to the public.
You sure can sue that person for libel, or slander.
To sue them you can file a small claims court action.
Here in Calif. the max is $5,000.00. If you intend to sue for more that that amount then you have to higher an attorney and go to a higher court.
If you decide to sue, get all the proof you can. Copy every posting and get your friends to copy them also.
You can take two or three friends in with you as witnesses. It isn't as hard as you might think.
Mark J is just a little off, he is talking about deformation of character.

To sue for Libel you have to show that their statements are false and are going to hinder your ability to work or make a living in some way. You may sue someone for slander and deformation of character if they are just lying but not affecting your ability to make a living.

If you call enough lawyers, you can sue anyone for anything. Get out a phone book and get to work.
