You know, its interesting how many of these answers are saying that there is no difference (and perhaps in a land far off in the future when discrimination based on one's sexuality is no longer a reality then this may be the case). There are many in the queer community who would disagree though. Infact, many people celebrate differences, because it makes life more interesting. Just a thought.

I don't know. Perhaps because I have a great amount of respect for the strength and courage it takes to be openly gay. The friends I know who have come out face such an uncertin world. It would have been so much eaiser for most of them to stay in the closet. But they have the courage to come out. I always admire courage, and I like to suround my self with it. Also because I tend to get along better with gay men and lesbian women then I do with others. I am not flirting with them or trying to get them to like me. I can just act as my self, and oddly enough people tend to like me when I do that.

I've wondered similarly, myself.
But the ironic thing is that GLBTQ's don't live any different a "lifestyle" than heterosexuals do.
My style of living is that of a Mother first and foremost. A loving and loyal partner, a good daughter, a supportive sister, and a hardworking artist.
There's nothing all that unique or different about my lifestyle than that of anyone else, heterosexual or homosexual. The ONLY thing that makes my lifestyle different than anyone else's is that it's MINE.

I have found people who ask such questions about the GAy /Lesbian/Queer/Bi/ and transgendered are usually afraid of what they do not understand, I am just glad we are not all the same or Hitler type folks are no longer tolerated!
Some ask because they are being introduced to many more alternate lifestyles on a more regular basis and want to understand... either way ask away- Most of us are generous with our knowledge.... and want to be understood!

beats me..but a least for the critical ones...I think maybe because of fear that there is some trace of it in them...or the fact that it seems to make them feel superior to someone...we're talking about people that usually don't seem to like themselves very much..or have much of a life.
BTW does the Q stand for queer...I've seen GLBTQ recently and am guessing that's what it is?

Gay 'lifestyle'? Huh? Did Bill Clinton lead a 'heterosexual' lifestyle when he let Monica give him blow jobs?
I live an "Ashley" lifestyle. My sexuality does not lead my life - I DO!
