This is one of those wonderful thimgs. The paradox. If you went back in time and killed your grandfather, you would not have been born. But therefore you could not have gone back and killed him. It is all very confusing and that is why it is a good thing that one can not go back in time.

Because You exist in the moment of Your Now. Which ever Now you decide to be In. So if you travell to the past and kill your grandfather, you are still in your moment of Now, in the body that you have chosen to be Now, in order to do what you did.
The future of the grandfather , will never be, but you and your memories , are still free.

So you travelled in excess of the speed light (just imagine the fine for that?!), back in time and killed the man who would one day be your grandfather. How did you return to the present, ie forwards in time?

a fork in the space time continuum was formed. C hanging a past event causes a fork in time. Be killing your grandfather, you created a new fork in time. The fork that you originally came from still exists, assuming that time travels in one direction, that mean the old universe still exists.

Well....in logical probability you killed him and came back to future (or present time); but over there your grandfather was not died, he was unconscious in that attempt of your murdering him. He survived the attack.....and now you know the rest of history.

You are alive as what you did was in a different timeline. After killing your Grandpa, the future would be different BUT in another timeline.

Oh, so you killed him in the past and you supposed that that should have affected the present.
...Well, maybe you're living in the past of your present? Ever thought about that?
