Why do GAYS have to be sooooo self-conscious about their conflicting sexuality and feel the despertate need to inflict it on everybody 24-7!!

All the nuances and swish and the need to parade queerness up and down Main Street USA in those Gay Pride spectacles half naked is abysmal!

It sounds like you are actually describing camp.

Theatrical and exaggerated, especially amusingly so.

Thesaurus: affected, theatrical, posturing, exaggerated, artificial, mannered, ostentatious. Camp behaviour or style
Camp originally referred to the deliberate and sophisticated use of kitsch, mawkish or corny themes and styles in art, clothing or conversation. Today, camp has a somewhat different meaning, as the term has grown to also include unintentional camp. Camp may be naive (i.e. unaware of itself as camp) or deliberate; however, it is always to some degree intentional insofar as it is a performative style. Deliberate camp often contains an element of parody or humor. Naive camp is an unselfconscious and is sometimes called "true camp."

Some people might imagine that camp behaviour is an inherent part of being a gay man. Aren't we somehow - perhaps genetically - more feminine? Aren't camp and gay basically the same thing? It's only if you look at the history of camp that you understand how flawed this belief is. Camp behaviour evolved among gay men during the 18th and 19th centuries for a good reason. Gay men couldn't be open about their sexuality, so they developed a shared way of behaving. Only by acting and dressing in a certain way could they send signals to each other and find sexual partners.

o camp behaviour represents the values of the 19th-century closet. To survive and to retain any sense of self-esteem, the gay men of that generation developed a camp outlook on life. Its main features were irony, theatrical frivolity, an aristocratic detachment from the worries of straight people, parody, and an emphasis on style over substance. It made sense then. But I've got news for you: the closet is broken, and we're never going back - yet too many gay people are still trapped on an outmoded camp-site.

Well, it depends on where you are coming from....I remember noticing that women "Swish About Limp Wristed and With Exaggerated Gestures" like gay men do.

Other than that, hetrosexuals parade their sexuality 24-7. Gays do the same. you probably just don't notice hetrosexual parading their sexuality because you are one. Gay or straight, people are people.

Not all gay people are like that. It's just that you only notice the more flamboyant ones, because the rest of us just go about our business like anyone else. I'm sure you've met and got on well with many gay people in your life, without even knowing it.

And if some gay people want to mince around with a limp wrist and over the top gestures, then it's up to them. If it makes you uncomfortable because you're too narrow-minded to see a male not acting how you think he's "supposed to" then that's your issue.

You are just seeing the stereotypical gay man. My best friend is gay and works in a factory making car parts, helped me fix my car when I needed to change the starter motor and you would never be able to tell he is gay by looking at him.

As for the Gay Pride Marches... we have them here in Australia, nothing wrong with them being proud of who and what they are.

well to begin with most of us are not like that...what you are seeing is only the portion of our society that behaves like that (and ours is a large number of people) which is portrayed by the media as stereotypical...It's an image that makes me cring when I see it...much like 'will and grace' is derogatory to some gay people---because it's no more real life than Arnold Schwargeneggar is about terminating people in his movies.

You don't have half a clue. Get a life, grow up, and stop processing negative energy which will eventually eat you up.

You must know different Gay people than I do. I've never seen any of my friends do that. Are you insecure in your masculinity or what?
