Hockey is a way of life for my family. I grew up watching Hockey Night in Canada with my Dad....(TML of course). My five older brothers played hockey - some organized minor hockey and the others just played pick-up hockey games on the frozen swamp about 100 feet into the bush from our house. My seven nephews played hockey and three of them are the OMHA All-Ontario Midget Hockey champions of 1999-2000. Another nephew of mine won the same title in 2004-2005. My husband plays in two men's rec leagues. My 3 year old daughter watches hockey with us and wants to play some day.
To this day, our family gathers together every Saturday night to watch Hockey Night in Canada after having a delicious meal together. Every World Cup, every Olympics and World Jr. Hockey Championships - we're together watching it.
Some of my favourite memories of hockey are:
1. My three nephews winning the OMHA title in 1999-2000. Mainly because the team they played in the finals had racist fans and we beat them in the final game of the series in their arena!
2. My three nephews winning the Lil' NHL Bantam Championship in 1998 in Sudbury, Ontario (it's an All-Native youth Hockey tournament). One of my nephews won the Bantam MVP trophy. His name was placed next to "Jonathan Cheechoo" of Moose Factory, who won it the prior year.
3. Watching Team Canada beat the US to win the Olympics in 2002!
I look forward to watching my daughter play hockey...some day!

Born in Oshawa Ont. my dad refereed for over 20 years in the old O. H A. so i got to go to alot of hockey games. My greatest memories was watching some guy named Bobby Orr start out. Oshawa had a game with the N. H. L. oldtimers against the Flying Fathers in the early 70's, my dad was the ref, and i worked the penalty box. Gordie Howe and Ted Lindsey got a penalty at the same time. Being only 15 at the time i was in awe, they were great all the players. I live for the sport and of course the Habs, but in general i love hockey.

I love hockey bottom line. It means at least 50 live games a year. I am a season tickets holder to the Washington Capitals. I also travel to other cities to see games.
I started liking hockey when I was about eight years old. My grandmother bought me a rod hockey game for Christmas. My dad and I would always play with it. Then I started to watch it on TV and I was hooked.
My favorites hockey memories are as follows:
1. The Miracle On Ice- My first big hockey memory
2. Seeing Mario Lemieux play against Wayne Gretzky the first time.
3. When I went to Toronto and went to the Hockey Hall of Fame. I saw a Leafs game in the old Maple Leafs Garden and caught a Sabres game on the same trip in Buffalo. When I got home I caught a Caps game. Three games in three cities in one week plus the Hall.
4. Going to the 1998 Stanley Cup playoffs. The Caps went to the Finals. I saw all the Caps games in person.
5. Travelling to Pittsburgh to see Sid the Kid take on Alex O for the first time. It was Thankgiving weekend and I got to see my parents on that trip it was special.
Game On! I Love This Game!
C-A-P-S CAPS! CAPS! CAPS!

Hockey is basically my life. My favourite team is the HABS. I've always been a fan, and always will, no matter what. As a kid, I used to play street hockey so I became interested at an early age. I went to my first hockey game this year (Sept 20) and what a experience that was. I have one thing left to say: GO HABS GO!

Hockey is life. I've played all my life, my kids play, we cheer for the home team and are sad when they lose. I appreciate effort over winning and love to play the game and watch my kids play more than anything in the world. A world without hockey is not one I want to live in.

I love hockey. I never played (we didn't have a team at my school or neighborhood) and I don't skate well. I have enjoyed watching games at the Collegiate (division III) level and went to the Calgary Olympics to see Olympic hockey. I have seen NHL games Montreal, Toronto, Anaheim and Los Angeles. Hockey was my connection to my Dad who died in '94. We went to a lot of games together. One day we saw USA vs. Russia pre-Olympic game in Lake Placid and then a college game in Plattsburgh, NY. I regret that we never got to go up to a game in Montreal before he died. Some of my best memories? Going to Toronto to see the Leafs play the Canucks in '96. It was my brother's birthday, and he was happy to see Messier (his favorite player) at the old Maple Leaf Garden. We then went to the HHOF. I saw MARIO LEMIEUX play at the old Montreal Forum. I saw Patrick Roy make his return to Montreal with the Avalanche.
I saw a Ducks game in Anaheim when the Anaheim Angels was in the World Series. The Ducks had a special deal where the patrons of the hockey game could stay after and watch the World Series on the Jumbotron! That was so cool. (I like baseball too). But I love hockey. It is so fast. So much fun to watch. I can't wait to try and get tickets to another Habs game. GO HABS!!!

I started watching hockey in 1999. At that time I hated it but the more I watched the more I understood and of course the better it got. I love watching the games with my hubby and sons. It's usually loud and rambunctious in my house during a game. To me hockey is about team spirit and family and friends. Plus I also married a NHL player so I gotta like it.....lol....it doesn't count that it was our moms that wanted us to.
GO LEAFS GO !!!!!

hockey means everything to me! it's so dear to me! if i can't play or watch hockey for 2 weeks or more, i get sad and bored, and things have to real cool to mean anything to me anymore. but when i'm able to play hockey again, i live up, i shine once again and i have the time of my life.
funny though, i've only been a hockey player for a few months, but i already love it to death! i was destraught when the summer season ended and i had to wait till winter season started! but i did already love hockey before that. i fell in love with it while watching the 2006 olympics (torino), but i liked it since i was a kid, i could do without it then, and i didn't know anything about it. but i did like it sooooo much!
and now,.... now i play hockey, i watch hockey games (mostly on the internet because hockey games aren't broadcastes here in the netherlands) and i'm studying to become a referee (though i'll only be allowed to officiate U12 games for now,... but it's great!)
so what does it mean to me? everything! it puts a knd of speed in my life that i need to interest myself in everything else that life has to offer. it sounds dramatic, but that's how it is!

It means a sport with has been so poorly marketed that it cant even sell the TV rights so it is losing money and going under. if they had the guts to show the true game fights , hits maybe they could get a fan base and make some money but as it is now they will never get anywhere.
