I used to love the books by Richard Scarry - brilliantly illustrated with lots and lots going on the pictures....
they are still around and I bought some a couple of years ago for my daughter...that was weird...
....oh and anything by Dr Seuss.!! The rhymes, illustrations and the quirkiness of them. I loved them all, as my daughter does now.

I remember "The Pokey Little Puppy" as being a favorite.
Raising my 20 & 19 yr olds I Loved reading them "A Fairy Went A-Marketing" Still love reading it to my 9 & 6 yr olds today!! Also Maurice Sendaks "Little Bear" series and Little Monster books are great with the little hidden buddies to find!!!

The two that spring to mind are.....
Where the Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak. 1963
Fungus the Bogeyman by Raymond Briggs. 1977
And of course Dr Seuss!
And now that I think about it, I also enjoyed the books by Richard Scarry.

pop up books, I can not remember the author or titles. The only one I remember that I still treasure is "The giving tree"

I got the book made of the Lord of the Rings from stills of Ralph Baski's animated film.
I loved it and it hepled me learn to read.
