A few? Try most of the artists during the Renaissance.
Back then they were not just painters.
Bernini, Da Vinci, Michaelangelo...they were sculptors, painters, designers, architects.

They were geniuses.
When was the last time you heard of someone like Da Vinci?
Look at his designs. He thought of a helicopter device, a flight machine, a car, and many more.

Understand, I don't think being 'ahead of your time' in art is such a great thing. It usually means you set the lower standards that the next generation follows. And while they praise you publicly for being ahead of the curve, the truth is, they are secretly saying a prayer of thanks to God that you lowered the standards for them. (See, especially, Warhol.)
