No, but they know, the blood of common citizen doesn't have courage to do anything. There are so many tainted minister and absconding Criminal in our Parliament and they are chosen again and again.

Anyone here ever served your community as an elected official, errr... politician?
I have.
Not all politicians have corruption in their blood as you so eloquently put it. Not all politicians are rich as one of the posters put it. Some of us actually became involved in politics "to make a difference". I imagine that is true for 95% of the people who do become involved. As for the financial gain that people who become in politics gain from holding the position if I and most others got paid in the private sector for the services we rendered as a representatives of the people there would be alot more millionaires today. Just in my case, I had to play the role of an accountant, a supervisor over many different departments, a union negotiator, a public relations officer, a human resources officer, a legal facilitator, a psychologist and a secretary. For playing all of these roles I was paid $3,600.00 a year. That is $60.00 a week for $1.00 an hour based on the fact that my average work week consisted of 60 hours of attending anywhere from 5 to 10 meetings a week,. Not to mention that I was "on call" 24/7. My phone rang at all times of the day and night. It cost me money more than anything I ever got paid.
Who amongst you are going to ever give of yourself and your time in this manner?
Who amongst you is going to become involved with politics to help your fellow citizens versus the ones who sit back, complain and belittle those that do? Most of you will fall into that second category.
Shame on you all for lumping all representatives of the people into one big pile of crooks and crap when not one of you know what the job entails.

Yes.
My friend became a councilman because he figured that politicians at the local level would be more interested in the well being of their community, and more insulated from corruption and greed than at the state and national level.
After his first-hand experience, he now describes all of them as 'a bunch of whores'.

It is my guess that 50% of them enter politics with good intentions of serving the people and wanting to make a positive difference. However, the two party system and demanded loyalty to that party slowly but surely begins to erode why they entered politics and unless they are very strong morally corruption will enter in and they will find a way to justify it to themselves.
After elections they forget why they are there and get caught up in serving themselves.

I believe for any politician to eventually get to the top, they have to do something corruptive, lie, cheat, and do anything they can and say to receive votes. Not prolly b/c they want to but b/c if they want to be successful they have to, sell their soul to the devil so to speak. Its sad to, thats why voting is ridiculous IMO b/c ur voting for one liar or another...
